This afternoon we have three meetings taking place following the abandonment of Fontwell.  That leaves us with jumping action from Catterick and a couple of all-weather flat meetings from Lingfield and Kempton.  David was due to run Great Tempo (pictured above) this afternoon in the 2m3f handicap hurdle but the abandonment leaves us with no runners today.  Martabot finished runner-up in the conditional jockeys handicap hurdle at Exeter yesterday and while it was a decent performance trying to concede 8lbs to the winner, I must admit that I did think he was going to win.  Still, there was more than enough encouragement to suggest that he will be winning something similar before too long, especially when he learns to settle a little better.

After racing at Exeter yesterday David galloped four of his horses including Cheltenham Festival hopeful Champers On Ice...there is nothing like a racecourse gallop to sharpen the horses up.

I see there is going to be another charity boxing match taking place shortly in Newmarket.  This time it takes place between jockeys William Carson and Simon Pearce and the pair have already been giving it all the verbal.  It sounds a bit like the Haye versus Bellew fight - let's just hope that it is as good!  Carson is 8/13 and Pearce is 6/5 - it's all in a good cause so hopefully they will raise plenty of money.

I thought that Arsenal might just sneak a result last night so I did my money in fine style when they were hammered 5-1 by Bayern Munich and 10-2 on aggregate.  Gunners managere Arsene Wenger had to blame the performance on someone as usual and took out his wrath on the referee.  While it is true that the ref had a stinker, he cannot be blamed entirely for a heavy defeat such as this - it is about time that Wenger called it a day...he has been a great manager down the years but he seems to have run out of ideas.  These two matches just illustrate how far short Arsenal are against the very best sides.

What is going on in the cycling world again?  Team Sky are saying that they want to be transparent.  They are transparent...everyone can see right through them!  If the tests are not completed on time or the proper records are not kept, they should be banned - the same goes for all teams.  At present the punishments are not severe enough so everyone thinks they can just flout the rules.
