There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Wincanton and Carlisle as well as flat cards from Wolverhampton and Kempton.  David runs the very promising Mr Big Shot (pictured above) in the 2m1f novices' hurdle at 3.00pm.  Our giant six year old has won his two starts in a bumper and a hurdle in fine style and he is long odds-on to make it three out of three.  He posted a most impressive victory on his hurdles debut last time with the runner-up a dual subsequent winner and now rated 130.  At odds of 1/9 sadly we are not going to get our Aintree betting money backing this one!

Jockey Noel Fehily is on the front page of the Racing Post today saying that he would not swap Blaklion for anything in the Grand National.  Our landlord for the next three days is Gino who is a part-owner of Blaklion so we are certainly going to have some interesting conversations...by conversations I probably mean arguments!

I see that local Liverpool fashion designer Mark Melia is defending Lady's Day on Friday.  He says that the girls get some unfair press - there may be some flashers about but they are all out to have a good time and many of them have saved all year for this day out.  Flashing, fighting and drinking?  Roll on Friday!

Manchester United looked terrible last night as they drew with Everton and it looks as though Jose Mourinho is in need of about six new players if he wants to win the Premiership.

The big game tonight is between Chelsea and Manchester City at 8pm.  Chelsea are 7/5 chances and they are the home team - they need to bounce back after their latest performance against Crystal Palace but I think they can do just that.  Meanwhile, my beloved Hammers are away to Arsenal and I will be hoping that the Gunners will continue to play as they have been recently as that would give us a chance!

The Masters Golf starts tomorrow so it is a big day for me.  I am going nap on Dustin Johnson to win at odds of 8/1, while 11/10 to finish in the top 5 and 13/5 to be top American also look good bets...it could be a sad day for my punting if he fails to deliver!

I took part in the sun-tanning Olympics...I got a bronze!  Appropriate with Aintree coming up...
