There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Aintree and Sedgefield as well as flat fixtures from Leicester and Kempton.  The stable has four runners; Moon Racer and Father Edward at Aintree while Taws goes to Sedgefield and Tobacco Road is a runner on the level at Leicester.  Moon Racer contests the Grade One novices' hurdle at 2.20pm and if you can draw a line through his Champion Hurdle form, his earlier efforts would make him a good thing.  Tom looked after him at Cheltenham and he has been working well at home since.  Father Edward contests the Topham at 4.05pm - a 2m5f chase over the Grand National fences - he won first time out for the stable but would need to recapture his best to figure.  David Noonan takes the ride and it will be good experience for him ahead of the big one tomorrow.

Meanwhile, over at Sedgefield Taws runs in the 3.15pm.  She has sound form and is a 2/7 chance - she is very much the one to beat but we are not going to get rich backing her.  Tobacco Road had some good form on the level a couple of years ago and he is partnered by Pat Cosgrave - let's hope that he can go well.

I was quite surprised how cold it was at Aintree yesterday - it felt just like winter and certainly not the sub-tropical paradise that I had left behind in Devon!    There was a great win for Lizzie Kelly aboard Tea For Two in the Bowl, beating Paddy Brennan and Cue Card in a driving finish.  She is certainly a character (and very noisy!).  It wasn't Lady's Day yesterday but the girls were still out in force.

David has four runners in the big one tomorrow as the defection of Pendra meant that Doctor Harper sneaked in at the bottom of the weights as number 40.  There will be a brief interview on with David about his Grand National hopes on the BBC local news this evening so do keep a look out for it.

I find it hard to believe that Dustin Johnson did not hit balls on the practice field - he didn't hit one shot before pulling out of the Masters.  Luckily my bookmaker has decided to void bets on the American...I can breathe a sigh of relief!  The greens look so fast - one of my mates played on the course a week after the tournament finished a few years ago and said that it was like putting on lino, he couldn't keep the ball on the green.  He was playing with Jack Nicklaus - I would have loved to have seen that.

Thought for the day...the straight and narrow path would be wider if more people used it!
