There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with flat fixtures from Pontefract and Lingfield as well as a jumps card from Exeter. David has one runner this afternoon as Poisoned Berry contests the 4.50pm race at Exeter; a 2m7f handicap hurdle. She was a course winner earlier in the season on good ground but would need to improve on her most recent efforts to figure here. She is a 10/1 chance today for Tom Scudamore. Tom is joined at Exeter by Conor O'Farrell and David Noonan who have both picked up outside rides at the meeting.
There was a day to remember on the level at Redcar yesterday for Connor Murtagh as he led up a winner in Inviolable Spirit before riding a winner aboard Sir Reginald Brown in the apprentice race. Meanwhile, also on the flat Shifting Star finished third at Windsor. Nothing extraordinary in that I hear, but this was his 140th start - just to keep a horse sound to race all those times is an amazing achievement.

Arsenal were beaten 3-0 by Crystal Palace last night and his team looked absolutely clueless. Surely the board can see that Wenger has lost the plot? The fans are up in arms - one of them even had an A4 piece of paper with an anti-Wenger protest on it! They could probably do with 3 or 4 quality new players but whether they get them or not is another matter. I am led to believe that Wenger is one of the most stubborn people you will ever meet. I know he has had his problems, but you have to hand it to Palace Manager Sam Allardyce - he always seems to get teams out of trouble and it always amazes me that he has never been offered a position at one of the big clubs.
Amir Khan says that he wants a warm-up fight before he takes on Kell Brook, saying that he wants to try out his broken hand. I would have thought that a good sparring session would have taken care of that? I'm not sure I would risk another fight first - Khan does have a bit of a glass chin and anything could happen.
The bookies have made newly crowned Masters champion Sergio Garcia a 25/1 chance to follow-up in the US Open. It took him 74 attempts to land a Major so as usual the layers are not giving much away!

Thought for the day...if you don't think your dog can count, try putting three treats in your pocket and then giving him two of them!
