There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with jump cards from Ludlow and Hexham as well as flat cards from Yarmouth, Brighton and Wolverhampton.  Meanwhile there is the final big Spring Festival as the Punchestown meeting gets underway in Ireland.  Tom Scudamore heads to Ludlow for just one outside ride today and he is still on the 97 winner mark for the season.  His mount, Very Extravagant is napped by the Racing Post - with his most recent form figures reading 'PF' I am sure Tom will be hoping that his jumping is not very extravagant!

As mentioned, the big meeting is undoubtedly over in Ireland where the feature races is the Champion Chase at 5.30pm.  There is £147,500 up for grabs and Un de Sceaux is the odds-on favourite, mind you English raider Fox Norton could be a big danger following his impressive Aintree success.  Whenever I have a flutter on the Irish races I always give the market a quick check to see if there is any money around for Tony Martin trained horses - their horses are often well backed and they don't tend to leave the money in the bookies satchel!

David has a nice selection of young horses for sale the coming season, one of which is pictured above - a former French gelding from the flat called Friday Night Light.  He had some nice form in France and certainly looks the part.  If you have ever been interested in owning a horse at Pond House we may have just the horse for you - further details can be found by clicking here.

There is a must-win match for Chelsea tonight as they take on Southampton at 7.45pm on Sky Sports.  Their lead has been cut to just four points at the top of the Premier League and a win tonight would make their task a whole lot easier.   Chelsea are a best priced 9/20 - the odds get stranger everyday!  Meanwhile, Newcastle were able to get a great result as they won 4-1 against Preston and have earned promotion back into the Premiership.  The Geordies always turn out in force to see their team and deserve to be in the top tier, mind you they are going to have to spend a few quid to stay up.

Following his most recent outburst I see that Romanian captain Ilie Nastase could be banned from the Royal Box at Wimbledon.  I don't  know about you, but I don't think he will be losing any sleep over it, especially as he could still enjoy VIP status...it could be love all as far as Mr Nasty is concerned.
