There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Bath, Windsor and Beverley supported by jumps fixtures from Kempton and Warwick. Fresh from their one day break, the stable has two runners at Warwick; Celestial Path and Work, while Arkadios runs at Kempton.  Celestial Path takes in the novices's hurdle at 1.30pm and he is yet to replicate his good flat form over timber and Bedrock looks to be the one to beat.  Work contests the boys' handicap hurdle at 5.00pm and she was unlucky not to win on her first start over hurdles - she has run creditably since and looks to have fair claims under David Noonan who also takes a handy 3lbs off her back.  Meanwhile, over at Kempton Arkadios takes in the 2m5f handicap hurdle at 4.40pm - I thought he would have won at Newton Abbot last time but for falling two out.  This is a stronger race and he is higher in the weights but he looks like he has a good chance in the hands of Michael Heard.

There were thrilling finishes to the trainers' championships on either side of the Irish Sea and it is congratulations to Nicky Henderson and Willie Mullins, while top class chaser Menorah bowed out at the top of his game when winning on the last day of the season at Sandown for the fourth straight year.

There was a well-backed winner at Thirsk yesterday.  The winner had had three previous starts in maidens, achieved a handicap mark of 68 and then boom, wins first time in a handicap.  Helovaplan, no that's the name of the horse!  I was pleased to have a few quid on and what a great name - especially when it goes right.

I saw probably the best heavyweight fight in years at the weekend as Anthony Joshua got up off the deck to beat Vladimir Klitschko, earning a cool £15 million in the process.  They are set for a £50 million rematch and it would certainly be worth seeing if it is anything like the first bout.

Chelsea looked good beating Everton 3-0 while Spurs beat a terrible Arsenal side 2-0 to maintain the status quo at the top of the Premier League with Chelsea still 4 points ahead.  Apparently Wenger said that it was disappointing that Arsenal were going to finish behind Tottenham.  My Gunners mate put it in much more colourful language than that!
