Rod's Dream runs at Newton Abbot
There are five meetings today, flat cards at Leicester, Redcar, Lingfield and Wolverhampton plus a jumps card at Newton Abbot this evening.  David has three runners at Newton Abbot, Sweettoothtommy, Arkadios and newcomer Rod's Dream.  Sweettoothtommy runs in the 6.20pm 3m2f handicap chase.  He finished fourth last time out at Chepstow running on from 2 out and so the step up in trip today should suit.  Arkadios runs in the 7.20pm 2m2f handicap hurdle.  He carries top weight of 11st 13lb less Michael Heard's five pound claim.  His form figures do not look the greatest but he was in the lead at the second last at this track when falling on his penultimate start.  Let's hope he can reproduce that run and then he would be in with a chance.  David's last runner is in the 8.20pm bumper and Rod's Dream is having his first ever run on a racecourse.  He works well at home but the horse to beat is the Philip Hobbs' trained Horse Force One as he won a point to point 23 days ago.

I must give Gary Sharp and his team praise as they are the winners of the 2016 racing ground staff team of the year.  They keep Cartmel in tremendous condition and are worthy winners.  If you have not been, Cartmel is well worth a visit as the atmosphere is great.  Mind you, all the roads are always blocked before and after racing but it is a nice place to be stuck, I can testify to that!

It is hard to believe that Huddersfield will be in the Premier League next season after beating Reading on penalties.  I do not think they will stay long in the top division, sorry to upset some of my Northern mates!  It is a long time to wait but Huddersfield are 11/10 to be relegated.  They say the game yesterday was worth £200 million to them.  Surely Crystal Palace will not make 69 year old Roy Hodgson their new manager?  He should be on a deck chair on a beach somewhere!

Tiger Woods was arrested for being drunk driving.  I am told he could not afford the taxi home!  In the cricket England were 20 for 6 in the one day match.  It was their worst ever start in a One Day International.  South Africa won by 7 wickets.

It really bugs me when people make insect puns!  Have a nice day.
