Purple N Gold runs at Market Rasen

Today we have six meetings, flat cards at Epsom, Catterick, Doncaster, Goodwood and Bath plus a jumps card at Market Rasen.  David runs Purple N Gold in the 3.25pm at Market Rasen, a 2m2f handicap hurdle.  Our eight year old has won off higher marks but has been disappointing on recent runs over fences.  He is the outsider of the field at 10/1 in the Post.  Tom Scu rides in the first two races at Market Rasen and there are only three runners in each.  They give the ground as good, I wonder what the problem is?  Tobacco Road ran a cracker at Chelmsford last night to finish second, he has only beaten 1/2 a length at 8/1.  His turn must be near.

The big race of the day is the Oaks at Epsom.  The favourite Rhododenron is taking a big step up in distance from a mile to 1m4f but on breeding you would say that this is what she wants and I think Aidan O'Brien knows what he is doing!

In the cricket yesterday it was a great knock from Joe Root in the Champions Trophy, he was 133 not out.  I thought Bangladesh set a good total of 305 but England soon made that total in 47.3 overs.  it seems to me like you need about 340 to be competitive.

Chelsea collect £151 million in from the Premier League in TV rights and prize money last season.  That will probably be enough to buy them a couple of new players.  For me it seems like everything has gone out of proportion!

Andy Murray needed four sets to beat Martin Klizan yesterday at the French Open.  He will now plays Juan Martin Del Potro in the next round for a place in the last 16.  Murray will have to step up his game or he he could be in a spot of trouble.  The Scotsman is still not back to his very best form but hopefully he can do enough next time.

Whenever I go near a bank I get withdrawal symptoms!  Have a good day.
