There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Hamilton, Wolverhampton, Kempton and Ripon as well as a jumps fixture from Wolverhampton.  Although there are no runners from the stable today, Pond House jockey David Noonan has picked up a couple of spare rides, although looking through the card he would be doing well to add to his winner from Monday evening.

I still can't get used to Wetherby hosting flat racing - I will always think of it as a jumps track!  Newmarket trainer Luca Cumani had his first runner at the course yesterday and Star Gypsy ran out an impressive winner of the one mile maiden and looks one to follow.

John Ferguson has stepped down as CEO of Godolphin's worldwide operations bringing an end to a 25 year relationship with Sheikh Mohammed.  I wonder if he will go back to training their jumpers?  I hope Godolphin manage to sort themselves out - I miss the days when there was some real competition between them and the Coolmore/Ballydoyle team.

Romelu Lukaku has said that he already knows where he will be playing next season.  I bet Everton wishes he would tell them!  It looks as though he will be rejoining Chelsea for a world record fee of £100 million - Manchester United also wanted the Everton striker although it looks as though the reigning champions are his choice.  Meanwhile, Bournemouth have been busy in the transfer window and have opted for experience over youth, signing both John Terry and Jermaine Defoe.  They will both get good wage deals as they were signed on free transfers.

Lewis Hamilton does seem to like living on the edge.  I have just seen pictures of the Formula 1 star wrestling and driving a jet ski at what looks like 100mph!  He's getting some stick from family members for his passion for extreme sports although his day job as a racing driver seems extreme enough to me!

There was a good win for England's cricketers yesterday as they beat New Zealand with a bit in hand in the Champions Trophy.  Let's hope they can keep up the good work when they face Australia next!

It would seem as though coach Ivan Lendl has Andy Murray playing good tennis again as he plays his French Open quarter final match today.  What better time to be coming into form?

Thought for the day...why do banks leaver their doors open and then chain their pens to the counter?!
