There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Goodwood and Nottingham - it still never fails to amaze me why there are not more meetings on a Sunday when most people are able to go.  The best card looks to be over in Ireland at the Curragh where there is a flat fixture hosting Group 3 and Listed contests.  Hardly Group company I know, but there is a seller at Goodwood for two year old's over five furlongs today - I love sellers, although they are much better if they are over 1m2f or 1m4f then there is a much better chance that they will stay two miles over hurdles.

I see American trainer Wesley Ward has flown over ten horses for the Royal Ascot meeting and seven of them are two year old's.  His horses (especially the juveniles) always command plenty of respect and he has trained seven winners in the eight years he has been coming across.

One of our owners went to Epsom last week and said that the owners and trainers area was a temporary marquee.  Apparently the floors were sloping and the stools were very high, with one person taking a tumble from one of the stools.  I am not sure he will be going back to Epsom again in a hurry.

One brave punter went into a Ladbrokes shop and had £1,000 on Boris Johnson to be Prime Minister by 1st July.  The bookies must be certain that he is onto a loser otherwise they would not stand that sort of bet...normally you can only get £20 on these sort of markets.  If Boris became Prime Minister I reckon we would be in big trouble... more trouble than we are in already!

It was reported that Diego Costa was released from Chelsea by text by manager Antonio Conte.  Apparently it read, "Hi Diego, I hope you are well?  Thanks for the season we spent together.  Good luck for next year but you are not in my plan" - no beating about the bush with that message, to which Costa replied "OK"...a very strange way of doing business.  Meanwhile, Gary Monk is a 9/4 chance to get Middlesbrough back into the Premiership at the first attempt - now there's a rarity, a young English manager!

A word of advice...if you are ever using public transport, never give up your seat for an old lady.  That is how my uncle lost his job as a bus driver!
