There are four meetings taking place this afternoon and they are all on the level with the action coming from Carlisle, Wetherby, Windsor and Nottingham.  There are no runners from Pond House today, although we will have a runner at Royal Ascot tomorrow when Iniciar will contest the Ascot Stakes.  Talking of Royal Ascot it is looking like the Ryan Moore and Aidan O'Brien show - Moore is 1/3 to be top jockey while O'Brien is a 1/4 shot to be top trainer.  You are not going to get rich, even if you double them up.  It looks like the only conceivable challenge will come from the John Gosden team - he was top trainer at the meeting in 2012 and he looks to have a better squad than then, although he will need to have.

Looking at the weather forecast it looks as though David is going to be getting a little on the warm side.  Temperatures are likely to be north of 30 degrees and I do not envy those people attending in their top hats and tails.  As I have already mentioned, Iniciar will contest the Ascot Stakes at 5pm and he will have to shoulder top weight Dougie Costello will be in the saddle.

Pakistan won the Champions Trophy cricket against India over the weekend.  After they had lost their opening match against the Indians the bookmakers responded by pushing them out to 80/1.  They made no mistake in the rematch, scoring 338 for 4 which was the highest score of the entire tournament.  India were never going to match that and were bowled out for 158.

In the golf American Brooks Koedka equalled the lowest ever winning score for the US Open with a score of 16 under par to claim his first major tournament victory at Erin Hills.  England's Tommy Fleetwood shot a level par 72 to end up fourth on 11 under par.  I don't think the US PGA thought anyone would shoot such low scores as the course was set up to play very difficult with the ridiculously long rough.  Are the golfers of today getting better and better?
