There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat fixtures from Royal Ascot, Chelmsford City, Lingfield and Ripon as well as a jumps card from Ffos Las.  David has one runner this evening as Bambi du Noyer (pictured above) contests the 2m4f handicap hurdle from Ffos Las at 8.40pm.  Our gelding finished a good second on this track last time out and was only narrowly beaten.  He has posted three solid efforts since joining the Pond House team and certainly deserves to get his head in front.  A similar run to last time would give him an excellent chance under Tom Scudamore.

It was another exciting day's action at the Royal meeting yesterday and what a performance from Highland Reel to land the Prince of Wales Stakes.  I don't think this horse gets the credit that he deserves - he looked to be in trouble a furlong out but battled on bravely to win and has now amassed over £6 million in prize money...I certainly wouldn't mind owning him!

The big race of the day is the Ascot Gold Cup which takes place over 2m4f.  Order Of St George is a very short price on the basis of his impressive success in this race last year, but he has been beaten at odds-on in three of his last five starts so it might pay to be a little cautious before piling in at very short prices.  If he runs to his best he will win...good luck!

Retired boxer Chris Eubank was at Royal Ascot yesterday and I have to say that he looked very elegant, although in fairness he always did.  I am not sure how much he knows about racing.

England hammered South Africa in the first T20 cricket match yesterday.  England didn't know they had been in a match - the South Africans made 142 for 3 in their twenty overs, while England reached that total for the loss of just one wicket with more than five overs left.

Let's hope that England's footballers can gain some inspiration from the cricketers as the under 21 side take on Poland tonight at 7.45pm on Sky Sports.  The best price is 4/6 about England and they should be too strong for Poland.

I see that former champion boxer Tyson Fury has laid into lucky Anthony Joshua and wants a winner takes all blockbuster - that will never happen, Fury will get beaten and won't earn a penny.  I just can't see him fighting for nothing.
