There are five meetings taking place this afternoon and it is another day without any jump racing.  For those of you who are fans of the flat, the action comes from Hamilton, Leicester, Chepstow, Doncaster and Epsom.  Unsurprisingly, there are no runners from Pond House today.  Talking of the flat, I see that former lady jockey Hayley Turner rode another winner at Yarmouth last night.  I must have it wrong...I thought she had retired?!  Anyway, the horse she was successful upon, Hart Stopper looks really progressive and should be followed.  I am guessing that Hayley has seen how much the BBC presenters get paid and doesn't like what she sees!  How on earth can Chris Evans be getting £2.2 million?  Anyway, I digress...

There was one I watched on the flat yesterday that is certainly worth keeping an eye on next time.  Zavikon completely missed the break in the 6f handicap at Lingfield yesterday so his race was effectively over after only a few yards.  He will win again granted some luck in running...can you hear me tearing up my betting slip?!

I was saddened to see that former trainer David Wintle passed away on Tuesday.  I always got along well with David and he was a very shrewd trainer who liked to lay one out for a gamble - he used to pull quite a few of them off too.  I he was always very chatty with me, except when he was going for a touch!  He will be missed.

Rory McIlroy has urged golf fans to "bet on me to win the Open"...I wonder which bookmaker is sponsoring him to say that?!  McIlroy is 20/1 to land the Open, although based on recent form he should be three times that price as he has missed the cut in his last four tournaments.  I don't suppose he is too worried though, he is set up for life, topping the rich list with £38 million, while he also has an £80 million ten year sponsorship deal in place...nice work if you can get it.

I have finally figured out where Donald Trump gets some of his ideas from.  Golfer John Daly visited the White House last week and wore a pair of his brightly coloured trousers.  I could just see the President in a pair of these, or even maybe a suit!

I saw an advertisement for burial plots the other day...I thought to myself, this is the last thing that I need!
