         Schooling in the Sunshine

Today there are six meetings, all on the flat at Haydock, Brighton, Yarmouth, Sandown, Newcastle and Wolverhampton.  A wet Tuesday and Wednesday produced a record number of non-runners.  By 5pm yesterday there was 105 horses pulled out!  You expect and want mostly good, good to firm ground at his time of year.  If you run your horses on the wrong ground the form will not work out right and you could mess them up.  It does not feel like the middle of the summer to me with the ground like it is, although the sun is finally shining this morning!  With the ground like it is you want jumpers but as we know there is no jumps racing at the moment!

Happy birthday to Sue Mills today!  Sue has been a long serving owner at Pond House and all I can say is that she does not look her age!  I hope she has a lovely day.  I saw a list of sporting events that the public think are crooked.  Darts was the most trustworthy while horse racing came 11th on the list.  The fourth on the list was snooker which I find hard to believe.  Over the years so many snooker players have been done for fixing matches, having said that if you go into a betting shop most punters seem to think racing is fixed.  I think most of the time people are talking through their pockets, what do you think?!

My football double came up yesterday with Villa and Sheffield United both winning.  Mind you the games were a lot closer than I thought they would be!  The USPGA golf starts today and it is on TV at 6pm, I know what I shall be doing this evening!  I also see that Jose Mourinho is pleading with his board to buy Gareth Bale for £100 million.  The way they way they played the other night I think they need more than Bale to bail them out!

In cricket, former Aussie seam bowler Damien Fleming is having a go at the Test team before the series even starts in Australia.  He says Keaton Jennings, Tom Westley and David Malan are some of the worst I have seen in test cricket!  Aussie's love a wind up, I hope we stuff them!

Why do fat chance and slim chance mean the same thing?!  Have good day!
