It's back to proper racing today with jumps cards from Newton Abbot and Bangor while there are flat cards from Beverley, Salisbury and Kempton.  David has runners at both National Hunt fixtures; Skilful Lord, Keating and Aero Majestic at Newton Abbot and Aldrin and Celestial Path at Bangor.  It is certainly good news to have the jumpers back following a week and a half without them...why does it seem like longer?!

Skilful Lord makes his debut for the stable in the juvenile hurdle and while he has a few pounds to find on flat form, eight flights of hurdles can sometimes make an enormous difference.  He has schooled well at home but he looks to be up against it with a couple of these today.  Keating carries top weight of 12-0 in the 2m handicap hurdle - he is another that makes his debut for the stable this afternoon and this drop back in trip could be just what the doctor ordered following his second at Exeter on his last start, he looks to have a sound chance.  Our last runner on the Newton Abbot card is Aero Majestic who is paper favourite for the bumper.  He was runner-up in an Irish point-to-point and has shown enough to think that he can be competitive in a race of this nature - David Noonan is aboard all three of our runners.

Over at Bangor Aldrin contests the maiden hurdle at 5.50pm.   He showed distinct promise when third at Uttoxeter in June and the experience should have done this useful ex-flat performer the world of good.  Our other runner on the card is Celestial Path (pictured above) who contests the 2m handicap hurdle - a 104 rated performer on the level (fifth in the 2015 2,000 Guineas), he has taken a while to get the hang of things over hurdles.  A mark of 109 looks fair enough and he looks to have a decent chance.  Stable jockey Tom Scudamore is aboard both of our runners at Bangor.

I see that some of the trainers had the hump about the prize money at Thirsk yesterday.  They said that there was a big crowd in attendance to watch the day's action which offered just £39,000 across the entire card.  By now they should know what to do...boycott the tracks who offer poor prize money, it's not rocket science!

Liverpool were 2-1 winners away from home against Hoffenheim last night, although my old mate 'Arry's Birmingham let my treble down...the Brum's were unable to score, drawing 0-0 with Bolton.

How can the Americans offer Maria Sharapova a wildcard place in the US Open when the French refused to give her a place in their tournament?  She is serving a 15 month ban for drug offences...what is wrong with these tennis officials?  At a guess I would suggest that sponsorship and money are involved somewhere!

Thought for the day...ten times out of nine, you will find me exaggerating about something!  Have a nice day...
