There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon with both fixtures on the level at Kempton and Leicester following the abandonment of Hamilton.  It looks like heavy rain has got into the ground at the Scottish track with the deluges creating false patches of ground.  They have obviously had considerably more in the north than we have had this way.

Jockey Tom Cannon looked a little unlucky at Plumpton yesterday - he was well on his way to riding a treble following the successes of City Dreamer and Rob Robin when The Tin Miner took it up approaching the last only to unseat the hapless jockey.  On the other hand, it did provide a welcome winner for David Noonan - every cloud and all that!

The mascot race at Uttoxeter always attracts plenty of attention and this year's winner was Fabius The Fox...a cunning name for that runner!

I see that claimer Patrick Cowley received a 12 day suspension from the stewards for failing to take all reasonable measures to obtain the best possible placing.  I wonder how many more races it will take before there is support for Balibour...I have a suspicious mind.

I like Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp - football could certainly do with a few more characters like him.  Anyway, there was a good match between Liverpool and Leicester yesterday with Liverpool prevailing 3-2.  They need a goal keeper mind you, as Mignolet looks so unsteady and he seems to make the defense very edgy.  I know he saved a penalty, but he did give one away as well.  Meanwhile, Manchester City looked the best side around again over the weekend as they beat Crystal Palace 5-0.  Palace look doomed and I wonder how much older Roy Hodgson will look by the end of the season?

There was a great win for England over the West Indies in the one day International at Bristol.  What a knock from Moeen Ali to hit 8 sixes in just 14 balls on his way to a well deserved century.  There was a good crowd at Bristol to watch the match.
