There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Brighton and Newcastle as well as jumps fixtures from Carlisle and Uttoxeter.  David has two runners at Uttoxeter; Skilful Lord and Bambi du Noyer.  Skilful Lord contests the two mile juvenile hurdle at 2.20pm and he would need to improve on what he has shown so far to figure here against some highly-rated rivals.  Bambi du Noyer runs in the 2½m handicap hurdle at 5.00pm having won in very good style at Exeter last week.  It was a conditional jockey's race so he escapes a penalty and can run from the same mark of 101, meaning that he is 11lbs ahead of the handicapper and should go very close under Tom Scudamore.

Perhaps they should consider banning taps from the jockey's room?!  It is now the turn of Steve Drowne to weigh-in 2lbs heavy following Ryan Hatch the day before.  It is the second time that Drowne has weighed-in heavy in the last six months and picks up a six day ban.  The water is probably the most expensive in the world!

I see the bookmakers did their money at Punchestown yesterday when all six of the favourites obliged...I thought that would cheer you up!

Racing Post editor Bruce Millington is taking former champion jockey Ryan Moore to task, claiming that he does not say a lot during interviews.  Well, he is a shy guy by nature but if you take the microphone/recorder away from his face he is just fine.  He never fails to speak to me so he can't be that bad!  It's funny how it goes...if he took more after his brother Jamie, you would need ear plugs!

There was a good win for Manchester United last night as they beat Benfica 1-0, while Chelsea drew 3-3 with Roma despite turning out a patched-up side.

The head of the Rio Olympics Committee, Carlos Nuzman has been charged with corruption, tax evasion, money laundering and running a criminal organisation.  Other than that, the 75 year old is alright!  It is such a shame that there is always some sort of corruption and controversy surrounding these big events.#
