It's a busy day with no less than six meetings taking place.  There are flat cards from Ascot, Catterick and Wolverhampton as well as jumps cards from Ffos Las, Stratford and Market Rasen.  Just take a look at the prize money at Ascot - there is over £4.3 million up for grabs including the Champion Stakes which has a whopping £737,000 for the winning connections.  If you are thinking of going along to Champions' Day at Ascot, make sure your hat fits tightly as it is going to be a little breezy!  There are no runners from Pond House this afternoon although stable jockey Tom Scudamore has picked up five outside rides at Ffos Las.

I thought that Red Square Revival ran a decent race at Wincanton yesterday afternoon - he jumped and travelled well for a long way and looked to have many of his rivals in trouble a long way out.  I just wonder if he saw the trip out yesterday?  To me he looks well capable of winning something similar, but possibly over slightly shorter.

Ever popular hurdler The New One makes his seasonal debut this afternoon at Ffos Las so my old mate Gino will be on tenterhooks for sure.  It is amazing that at the age of nine he is making his debut in handicap company.

I have said it time and again, but when it comes to amateur riders' races Serena Brotherton really is different gravy.  She looked good aboard Restive yesterday at Redcar and has now ridden over 100 winners.  It just goes to show that jockeys can make a difference.

I did my money in some style last night as my beloved West Ham were beaten 3-0 at home to Brighton.  It's a shame the Hammers were not able to show any style!  The manager will get the blame although it looks like some of the players just don't want to be there.  West Ham have made some terrible signings, meanwhile Chris Hughton has done a teriffic job at Brighton.  My bets for today will be Newcastle at 21/20 and Stoke at 6/5 - just a little double as I don't have any money left!

Formula One star Lewis Hamilton says, "It's ridiculous the money I spend.  Sometimes I will be mid-air in my plane and decide to change direction"  Fancy having to make those sort of decisions in your plane...I don't think he lives in the real world, do you?

Anthony McGill beat former world champion Neil Robertson to reach the semi-finals of the English Open snooker at the Barnsley Metrodome yesterday.  I hate to say it, but lots of these players are new to me.  I play golf with a real snooker legend, six times world champion Ray Reardon - a true gentleman.

Patient: Doctor, how can I live longer than 100 years?
Doctor: Do you smoke?
Patient: No.
Doctor: Do you eat too much?
Patient: No.
Doctor: Do you go to bed late?
Patient: No.
Doctor: Do you have affairs with promiscuous women?
Patient: No.
Doctor: Then why would you want to live more than 100 years?!

Have a nice weekend!...
