Eamon an Cnoic runs at Plumpton

Today we hopefully have three meetings, Plumpton, Catterick (inspection 8am) and Wolverhampton.  David runs Eamon and Cnoic at Plumpton, in the 2.50pm 2m3f novice handicap chase.  It looks a race our seven year old should win.  He won on heavy going at Haydock on his penultimate start and has the best form on offer.  He does have to give plenty of weight away but he should be better than his two rivals with Tom Scu in the saddle.  David also saddles one runner on the flat at Wolverhampton this evening.  Iniciar runs in the 6.40pm stayers handicap over 2 miles.  He hasn't run since Royal Ascot last year, a day he went off too fast in the Ascot stakes but he does have some useful form on the flat.  He does have it to do against the favourite Dubawi Fifty but it would not be the biggest surprise to see him run okay despite being the outsider of the field.

I went racing to Exeter yesterday and got frozen and it snowed quite a lot!  Poker Play came back to form and finished third.  Maybe the longer trip helped yesterday and he should win races on this form.  Ramses De Teille finished second to the odds on favourite.  I am not sure he is a 148 rated chaser, I think the handicapper has been very hard on him.  Just Midas ran okay on his racecourse debut to finish fourth in the Bumper and is bred to be a stayer over jumps.  Fergal O'Brien trained the winner of the race, Time to Move On and he is now between 10/1 and 20/1 for the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham.  The ground was bottomless at Exeter yesterday.  In the Veterans chase only two completed the course, four pulled up and one refused at the last!  That tells you how testing the going was and the times of the races confirm also confirms how bad it was.

Chelsea play West Brom tonight.  West Brom look in desperate trouble at the bottom of the Premiership.  I can't see them winning but Chelsea are short at 4/11.  What was wrong with Manchester United yesterday losing away to Newcastle.  Mourinho always seems to have excuses.

I watched the USA women play Finland at Ice Hockey.  It got a bit nasty when Rosa Lindstedt and Monique Morando came to blows.  The Americans had the last laugh as they won 3-1.  Have a good day.
