David was on the board yesterday with the victory of high profile recent recruit Know The Score (pictured above) in the bumper at Towcester.  He won by 13 lengths and extended his authority over Alan King's Sernior Citizen by over 9 lengths from when they last met in an Irish point-to-point.  It is a long way from Towcester to Cheltenham, but he looked completely different class to his rivals here and he certainly would not be out of place in the line-up for the champion bumper at the Cheltenham Festival.  Wherever he goes, it looks as though it will take a very good horse to beat him, especially if the ground comes up soft.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Kelso, Fontwell and Leicester as well as an all-weather flat card from Chelmsford City.  There are no runners from Pond House today, although stable jockey Tom Scudamore travels to Leicester for just one ride for his brother.  There are only five runners but it looks to be a tight little contest.  I think I will be keeping my powder dry today.

You needed a candle if you attended the Grand National weights in London on Tuesday.  It was supposed to be held at the BAFTA headquarters in Picadilly but a local power outage and failure of a back-up generator meant that everything was in darkness and they had to adjourn to the nearby Le Meridien Hotel.  Why not hold the booze-up at Aintree racecourse - isn't that where they hold the Grand National itself?  Another problem solved!  David is represented by Vieux Lion Rouge in the big race and he is a 40/1 chance.  The favourite at this early stage is Blacklion who is part-owned by our Aintree landlord Gino who puts me and David up for the duration of the meeting.  It could be a noisy stay with Gino walking his box in the lead-up!

I hope a few of you followed me and had a few quid on Liverpool as they beat FC Porto 5-0...I love the Scousers.  Aresenal are aware to Swedish minnows Ostersunds - the best price about Arsenal is 11/20 and they look worth a punt.  Don't forget the match starts at 6pm.

It looks as though boxer George Groves has borrowed Chris Eubank Junior's suit.  Groves turned up at the weigh-in with exactly the same suit as Eubank wore in October, which prompted Eubank to say, "You want to be me".  It has the makings of a really good fight.
