Snow has started falling at Pond House

There are only two flat cards left on today and they have to both survive inspections, Newcastle at 8am and Kempton at 11am.  It is not only the tracks that have to be raceable, everyone getting there is also the problem.  We have snow and temperatures of -5c here in Torbay and it is the first time we have seen snow down here in 40 years.  I watched Wolverhampton yesterday after getting stuck in the house.  If you backed King Kevin in one of the early races you would have been fuming as he got into all sorts of trouble and he should have won.  With a clear passage from the furlong pole he would have won and you should not give up on him in the future although he has gone up 27 pounds since November.

Both scheduled jumps meetings at Doncaster and Newbury have already been called off for tomorrow.  Having said all this about the weather - my postman is still wearing his shorts!  All the press are getting leading trainers to nominate their main hopes for the Cheltenham Festival.  Most seem to have about three fancies but Nicky Henderson has 8 selections so it looks like he is the man to follow!

It is seems a bit daft to me that Liverpool have a home football match on Grand National day against Bournemouth that kicks off just 15 minutes after the big race.  It is the first time for 24 years that this has happened and it seems like absolute madness.  I find it hard to believe that they can't plan it better.  Arsenal play Manchester City again tonight, kicking off at 7.45pm.  This is a league match but if Man City win again I hate to think how much stick Arsene Wenger will get.  The fans will go potty as they are not interested in how much money the club has made, they want to win trophies!  Spurs won 6-1 against Rochdale in their FA Cup replay.  I see that the referee and VAr got quite a few decisions wrong so it still all looks like a work in progress.  Only 24,000 people turned up to watch so Rochdale will not make as much  money as expected.

In cricket England are looking good against New Zealand and they won by 6 wickets.  Ben Stokes scored a great 63 and he looked quite emotional after the match.

My wife asked me f we could have something more Christmasy on the television so I put FIFA on playing in snowy conditions!  Have a nice day.
