There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action taking place at Kelso, Market Rasen and Warwick.  There are no runners from Pond House today, although stable jockey Tom Scudamore travels to Market Rasen for three outside rides.  I'm not sure I would want to be backing any of them, let's hope that I am wrong.  Come to that, the weekend before Cheltenham I'm not sure I would want to be taking too many rides at all, especially if there is an 'F' in the form figures anywhere!

I have been told that there are six 'good things' at this year's Festival and four of those go on the first day.  Getabird, Footpad, Buveur d'Air and Apple's Jade go on the Tuesday and there will either be a lot of skint punters or skint bookies (usually the former)!  The other two are Samcro and Altior.  Surely they can't all win...the trick is to quit whilst you are ahead.  If you keep up to date with my daily chat next week, you will soon be able to tell if I have done my money or not!

Looking at the weather forecast it looks as though we may get away with it on the Tuesday although it is not looking quite so good for the remainder of the week.  With downpours over the last few days the ground has gone heavy in places.  As I have said previously, if you are going make sure that your selection will handle rain softened ground.

I see that Conor O'Farrell was talking about some of his career highlights recently and the former Pond House jockey picked out Buena Vista winning the Pertemps Final, Dynaste in the Fixed Brush Hurdle and Swing Bill for his performances in the Grand National.  We would certainly like a few more like them.

There are a couple of good football matches to look forward to this afternoon with Watford taking on Arsenal and Bournemouth playing Spurs.  I will be having a little double on Arsenal at 1/2 and Spurs at 4/7 to give me a bit of Cheltenham money.  Talking of football, I see that Pep Guardiola has been fined £20,000 for wearing a yellow ribbon on the touchline.  It seems like a load of nonsense to me.  Meanwhile, how on earth can Joe Hart get the call-up for England again when he can't even get into the West Ham side?  He could be England's number one keeper this summer in Russia.

Do you know how annoying it is when people answer their own questions? Very!
