Apologies for the disruption in service on our website over the last couple of days.  As you can see, normal service is now resumed.  There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Towcester and Wetherby as well as all-weather flat fixtures from Chelmsford City and Wolverhampton. David has one runner at Towcester today as Just Midas contests the bumper at 5.25pm. He showed plenty of promise when a close fourth in a similar event at Exeter on his racecourse debut and this stiff track should suit him well. He will possibly need a longer trip in time, but he looks to have each way claims in the hands of Michael Heard, who takes a handy 5lbs off his back.

I see the punters were on the wrong side of things again last Friday night when the odds on favourite, Oregon Gift was incorrectly placed second in a photo-finish. The placings were reversed yesterday after further consideration of the photograph by judge Felix Wheeler. How can they get it wrong? It makes the sport looks so amateurish.

The weather has really taken its toll on tomorrow’s Lambourn Open Day. Initially it was the afternoon activities that had been abandoned, but following further heavy rain the car parks are no longer accessible. All the yards, with the exception of Henderson's are now washed out – a great shame as it is normally an enjoyable day.

Cricket cheats Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft are facing a 12 month world ban from senior cricket. I still find it hard to believe that the remainder of the team were not aware. Aussie coach Darren Lehmann said he “didn’t know what was going on”. If that is true, then he couldn’t have been doing a very good job. Call me draconian, but I still don’t think they have been given a long enough punishment, do you?

Talking of cricket, New Zealand take on England in the second test and the home side look well worth an interest at 6/4 given the way they destroyed us in the first game. I think England would struggle…even with sand paper in their pockets!

It is good to see that Andy Murray has been practising again. He has been out of action with a hip injury since last year’s Wimbledon tournament. He is hoping to return in time for the grass court season in June – let’s hope that he can.

Two gypsy fortune tellers meet on the street. One says, “You’re fine, how am I?” Have a nice day…
