Once again, thank goodness for the all-weather!  Just two meetings have survived the elements following the abandonment of Warwick and Musselburgh on the turf, with all-weather flat action taking place at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford City.  As I mentioned yesterday, I had an overnighter in Lambourn on Tuesday evening with Martin and Carol.  The purpose of the visit was to take Carol for some treatment at Oaksey House on her injured shoulder, but we had a fantastic time aside from that.  We joined Barry Hills on the gallops on Wednesday morning and were given a tour of Nicky Henderson's establishment on the way home - it was a fascinating experience and above you can see a picture of Martin with Nicky.

Barry Hills (pictured right) recounted a number of stories from when he started out training with his big owner Robert Sangster.  He is a fascinating man and a great trainer and it was a real honour to be in his company for breakfast.  Whilst we were in Lambourn I also met the politest jockey ever; Oisin Murphy.  I was talking to a stable lad with Oisin and he told the lad to take his hat off while he was talking to Mr Barnes!  He has certainly been brought up the right way and he even offered to cut up Mrs Pipe's food.  As you may know, Carol is struggling at the moment with one of her arms.  The facility at Oaksey House is quite incredible and the staff do an an amazing job.  I still struggle to believe that the government do not help to subsidise the work they do there, afterall it is not just the jockeys they look after.  Thank you to everyone who looked after us and made us feel so welcome during our stay.

If, like me you are going to be glued to the Masters golf over the coming days, keep an eye out for Sir Anthony McCoy.  He is going to be in the crowd watching - how the other half live!  Talking of the Masters, I am going to be having a few bets to keep me interested over the four days.  I will be backing Dustin Johnson at 13/1, Bubba Watson at 18/1, Sergio Garcia at 33/1 and Stenson at 40/1.

What a result for Liverpool as they beat Manchester City 3-0.  In fact, they were 3-0 up in just 31 minutes and looked completely different class.  If they could keep this sort of form up they would be serious title contenders next season.  Talking of Liverpool, I will be up there this time next week for the start of the Grand National meeting...I can't wait!

Thought for the day...no matter how far you push the envelope, it will still be stationery!  Have a nice day...
