There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Newbury and Bath and jumps fixtures from Ayr, Fontwell and Southwell.  The stable will have runners during the course of the weekend at Ayr and kick off today with Miss Tynte who contests the 3m½f mares' handicap hurdle at 4.45pm.  She carries a 6lbs penalty for an easy last time out success at Ludlow and is 6lbs 'well in' here as she is due to go up in future handicaps.  The ground will be a good bit quicker here, but if she is in the same sort of form as last time she will take plenty of beating.  Tom Scudamore takes over in the saddle.

There was a very good performance from Godolphin's Masar to win the Craven Stakes at Newmarket by an emphatic nine lengths.  The favourite certainly failed to give his running, but this was impressive nonetheless and he looks to be a much improved performer this year and looks the one to beat in the 2,000 Guineas in a fortnight at this stage.

There was controversy at Cheltenham yesterday afternoon after the stewards' decided to abandon the staying handicap chase owing to the unseasonably warm weather.  As many of you will know, I am not always in agreement with the stewards, but anything that is done in the interest of the horses has to be a good thing and I think that they probably got this right.

I did my money on Burnley last night as they were beaten 2-1 by Chelsea.  I can't complain as I thought that Chelsea looked different class...just don't tell David I said that!  Meanwhile, I see that Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has taken the unusual step of asking the fans to rate manager Sam Allardyce out of ten.  'Big Sam' is never going to get the plaudits as his style of managing is so dull, but he will keep you in the Premiership.  We had the same problem when he was in charge of West Ham.

I see that new Australian cricket captain Tim Paine claims his team will cut out the sledging that plagues the game.  Can you imagine an Aussie cricketer keeping his mouth closed?  I will believe it when I see it!  They have always kept their hands in their pockets and now I know why.

I bought a vintage Rolls Royce the other day but unfortunately I don't have enough cash left over to pay for a driver.  I have spent all that money and have nothing to chauffeur it!  Have a nice day...
