Today sees the return on the jumps meetings for start of the new season with racing at Uttoxeter this afternoon and Hexham this evening.  There are also flat cards at Newmarket, Goodwood, Wetherby and Doncaster.  The jumps boys holiday is over!  Tom Scu has 4 rides at Uttoxeter, mind you I can't see a winner amongst them!  David does not have any runners today but we do have two at Towcester tomorrow.  It looks a good card at Newmarket with the 2000 Guineas looking an outstanding race.  Aidan O'Brien has the first two in the betting and it looks like the unbeaten Saxon Warrior could be the one.  Ryan Moore is across the pond riding the favourite in the Kentucky Derby, Mendelssohn.  The winner of this race gets £918,512.52.  The odd 52 pence could come in handy!

I see Sam Twiston-Davies has left Paul Nicholls to ride as a free-lance.  I think this was probably the worst kept secret in jumps racing.  You tell  me why you would leave Nicholls to go free-lance?  Harry Cobden is now the number one jockey at the Paul Nicholls yard.  I wonder who will ride the most winners this season, Sam or Harry?!  I wonder if they would even bet on it?

What a result for Brighton beating Manchester United 1-0 last night.  Mourinho needs about 5 new players but I wonder how much money the board will give him?  Steven Gerrard takes over as the new manager of Rangers.  They only have one team to beat, Celtic as they will win all of the other Rangers matches.  I don't think they will  beat Celtic, sorry Sean and Bob!  I am going to have a few football bets - Bournemouth 6/5, Stoke 17/10, Scunthorpe 10/11 and Southend 13/10.

Wine improves with age.  The older I get the more I like it!  Have a good day and enjoy the sunshine.
