It is a beautiful, sunny morning here at Pond House.  There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Catterick, Windsor and Wolverhampton, while there are jumps fixtures from Kempton and Towcester.  There are no runners from Pond House today although stable jockey Tom Scudamore has picked up an outside ride aboard an odds-on favourite at Towcester so it looks as though the 'one ride theory' could pay off today, although we won't get rich beyond our wildest dreams!  Timeforben finished fourth at Southwell yesterday afternoon.  She led two out but didn't have any extra after the last, perhaps a slightly shorter trip could be in order?

It's a funny old country we live in.  Plumpton has lost two meetings to waterlogging but yesterday they had to water the course to get the meeting on.  Fortunately for them it all turned out well for ladies' day.

Bob Davies had his last day working at Ludlow yesterday.  He has been there for 35 years and there are plenty of people who still don't realise that he was champion jockey three times.  I always got on well with Bob, he was one of those officials who was approachable and you could have a proper talk with.  Bob is 72 today - many happy returns!

I see that valet David Mustow is offering a £2,000 reward information leading to the safe return of the jockeys' gear that was taken after racing at Chelmsford on Thursday.  The gear will be too small for most people.  Please give him a call on 07928 269009 if you have any information.

It is the end of the football season for most of the teams so the usual managers merry go round will start again.  Arsenal, West Ham and probably Chelsea will be looking for new bosses.  Meanwhile, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino says unless he gets plenty of money to spend he will leave the club, so he could well be heading for the door too!

Lewis Hamilton claimed the Spanish Grand Prix yesterday and move into a 17 point championship lead.  He proclaimed, "I've got the car to take the world title".  Who would disagree?  The Mercedes looks by far the fastest car on the grid, although I'm sure there are plenty of people who hope that is not the case!

While walking in my local park I saw a man with an amazing dog.  It had put a tent up, lit a fire and was cooking some beans.  I said, "That's a clever dog mate".  He replied, "It's a guide dog!"  Have a nice day...
