There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Carlisle, Leicester, Redcar and Windsor as well as a jumps card from Towcester.  The most interesting race of the day as far I am concerned would have been the 1m4f seller at Leicester.  You may recall (I have only mentioned it once or twice!) that this was the track and distance from where we claimed Make A Stand.  The trouble is, there are only three runners and I am not sure that any of them are any good!  It is a shame that there are not more races of this type as it would certainly help the courses earn a bit of income, although with only three runners perhaps the trainers don't want them afterall?

I was in form over the weekend, tipping up Rhodedendron for the Lockinge and Chelsea for FA Cup final success...sometimes I do get it right!

There was no success over the weekend for the English or Irish raiders for the French Gold Cup or Champion Hurdle with the home trained-horses completing a clean sweep of the places in both races.  De Bon Coeur was particularly impressive in the hurdle race, winning by 16 lengths and she looks very good.  Indeed, she has only ever been beaten once (by ¾l) when completing the course.

I have nothing against the Royal family, but am relieved that my newspapers will not be filled up with pictures of the wedding this week.  It has gone on for plenty long enough now as far as I am concerned.  My first marriage didn't last as long as the build-up to this one!

There wasn't much of a racing presence at the wedding - about the only one I could spot was John Warren, who is the Queen's racing manager.  Mind you, if you fancied a game of tennis you would have been okay with Serena Williams on hand.  It was certainly a different kind of service for her!

It looks as though Jose Mourinho will have to sign a few new players this off-season, especially a creative mid-fielder.  They didn't seem to have many ideas of how to break the Chelsea defence down on Saturday.
