Purple N Gold runs at Huntingdon

There are six meetings today.  Flat cards at Redcar, Leicester, Windsor and Chelmsford plus jumps cards at Cartmel and Huntingdon.  David has one runner, Purple N Gold at Huntingdon who runs in the 4.20pm race, a handicap hurdle over 2m4f.  The Racing Post have him at 12/1.  He runs today off a mark of 108 this afternoon and he has won off a mark of 130 over fences in the past.  Let's hope the course misses some of these forecast thunderstorms.  He has lots of ability but also plenty of character!  Tom Scu rides and he looks to have a good each way chance.

Congratulations to Jessica Harrington on winning the Irish 1000 Guineas with 12/1 shot Alpha Centauri.  This was her first classic winner and she landed a bit of a gamble.  The Aidan O'Brien good thing, Happily finished third.  There was also a good training performance from Karl Burke to win a Group 1 fillies race at Longchamp with Laurens.  She won by a short head and that made a difference of £78.000 in prize money!

I did mention that Oisin Murphy was going to ride at Sha Tin the other day.  Well he only went and rode a winner!  He rode Consort to victory so his trip was worthwhile.

I watched the European Cup Final on Saturday evening.  I was going to say that I feel sorry for Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius but he gets paid a lot of money and he gave away two goals to Real Madrid.  If I was the Liverpool manager I would be looking for a new keeper...Joe Hart it looking for a job!  What a goal Gareth Bale scored mind you.  It is reported Manchester United might buy him for £200 million and pay him wages of £650,000 a week.  This is crazy and not the real world.

England cricketers do not look up to Test standard and they got slaughtered by Pakistan.  I think our players think they are better than they actually are.  I think all the one day matches do not necessarily help the 5 day Test matches.

I really admire people who keep going even though they're in huge amounts of debt...they deserve a lot of credit.  Have a nice day.
