Going for Gold

Today we have seven meetings.  Flat cards at York, Sandown, Chester, Bath and Leicester plus jumps cards at Hexham and Fontwell.  David has one runner at Fontwell, Purple N Gold in the 6.25pm handicap chase over 2m2f.  There are only four runners but it is a very open looking race.  The favourite is 15/8 and we are the outsider of the field at 4/1.  He won this race last year, is well handicapped on old form and will love the ground.  He should be bang there at the finish with David Noonan on board.

All the big stars on the flat will be at York...Ryan Moore, Frankie Dettori and Chris Hughes!!  You might be wondering who is Chris Hughes?!  My wife tells me he is from Love Island last year!  I have never watched that programme so I have not got a clue who he is but he is riding in a charity race at York today at 5.40pm.  He is riding the favourite, Carnaged for Richard Fahey.  It is all in a good cause and I know he has been in training and riding out at Jonjo O'Neill's for quite some time so best of luck to him.

I see the winner of the seller at York yesterday was bought back in by Karl Burke for £26,000 and the fifth horse home was claimed by Mr W Easterby for £18,000 so the course will be rubbing their hands together after this.  I think there are more sellers and claimers wanted.

It was a great football match in the World Cup last night between Portugal and Spain which finished 3-3.  Ronaldo scored at hat-trick for Portugal and it was a very entertaining game.  In the other matches, Uruguay won 1-0 and Iran beat Morocco 1-0.  There are several matches today and at 5pm it is Peru versus Denmark on BBC.  Denmark at 7/5 looks okay to me.  Croatia play Nigeria and Croatia at 4/5 is a bet for me.

If you can't keep the ball on the fairways you will rack up big scores in the golf!  At least Tiger Woods can go back to his £15 million dollar yacht!  My man Dustin Johnson is 4 under par at the US Open.
