There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Royal Ascot, Thirsk, Beverley and Brighton as well as a jumps card from Stratford.  It is top hat and tails for David as he is off to Royal Ascot with Percy Street who runs in the 2m4f Ascot Stakes at 5.00pm.  Looking through the field, there are no less than eleven jumps trainers who have a runner, while Willie Mullins is mob handed with five runners.  Percy Street is making his debut for the stable this afternoon and is taking a big step up in trip - he was a quality animal on the flat but this is a big ask.  If I had to have a bet I would probably side with Coeur de Lion who looks as though he has further room for improvement with this longer trip.

Royal Ascot will be split between two channels this afternoon as the Poland versus Senegal match is also on.  The 4½ hour show gets underway at 1.30pm on ITV and runs on that channel until 3.25pm and then switches to ITV4 where it continues until 6pm.  Does it get any better than that?

Will the Americans take the money back to the States in the Group One King's Stand Stakes at 3.40pm?  Lady Aurelia, winner of the race last year tries to defend her title although I think that Battaash can win this so long as he gets out of the stalls okay.  It should be a thrilling race but don't blink or you will miss it!

England managed to get their World Cup campaign off to a winning start by beating Tunisia 2-1.  Harry Kane scored both goals but he left the second one late, scoring in the 92nd minute.  We should have been 3-0 up in the first 15 minutes but we missed so many chances.  How many open goals does Raheem Sterling need to miss before he scores?  Surely he can't be given too many more chances?  I would be starting Marcus Rashford.  Whichever way you look at it, England need to improve significantly if they are going to progress in this tournament.  Belgium looked quite good in beating Panama 3-0.

Today I will be backing Colombia at 7/10 to beat Japan, Poland (11/8) to beat Senegal and Russia (23/20) to beat Egypt - that will give me an interest.
