There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Hamilton, Brighton and Chepstow as well as a jumps fixture from Stratford.  It looks like a quiet day for the yard with no runners from Pond House today and I can't see that the stable jockeys have even picked up any outside rides.  Meanwhile there are only a few days until Clare Wyatt contests the charity flat race at Newton Abbot on Friday on Iniciar.  Pictured above you can see the pair looking very pleased with themselves on the way back from the gallops.

I had to chuckle at the quote from jockey Rossa Ryan after winning the claimer at Wolverhampton aboard Energia Flavio.  She said, "My mother would have won on that!".  Perhaps her remarks helped connections keep the eight year old as there were no claims afterwards...that is called a win-win for them!

I dread to think what the ground is going to be like at Bath tomorrow night with more hot, dry weather forecast.  As you know there is no watering system at the track and clerk of the course Katie Stephens says, "The racecourse isn't a thing of beauty right now".  I would be amazed if there were any more than a handful of runners with the ground more likely to resemble the M5!  We could do with some rain to ease the going  a little, preferably in the middle of the night!  I guess I am asking a bit much.

A racegoer has been banned from Cheltenham racecourse for 10 years for assaulting a member of the management team on Gold Cup day this year.  The 28 year old pleaded guilty to assault at Cheltenham Magistrates Court and was ordered to pay £300 to the staff member he assaulted.  In the Barnes Court he would have been banned for life and fined a couple of grand so I reckon he got away with it lightly.

In the World Cup Brazil beat the thugs of Mexico 2-0 yesterday, while today there is the small matter of England versus Colombia to look forward to.  The match is on ITV at 7pm.  The bookies make England 23/20 chances and Colombia are 31/10 so it could be a close match.  The papers are now reaching fever pitch...I really hope England otherwise the media will be tearing them down again just as quickly.  The other match today is between Sweden and Switzerland at 3pm on BBC 1 and I reckon the Swedes are the likeliest winners at 15/14.

I had to laugh when I read the comments of golfer Graham McDonnell who may miss today's qualifying for the Open after his clubs missed the flight to Royal Lytham.  He said that his clubs are "in a black hole otherwise known as Charles de Gaulle Airport".
