The Grand National meeting starts this Thursday and I will be up there each of the three days on my annual pilgrimage with David.  Most of my mates want to come too - well on Friday at least...I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that it is ladies day?!  The girls go all-out (in some cases quite literally) in their finery and always have their spray tans topped up to tangerine colour!  The thing that makes me laugh however, is that you often see the girls walking down the roads in a pair of flip flops before changing into their high heels when they are on the track!

There is a best dressed person competition there every year, and I think that one year a bloke won it...most people thought that it was open to women only, but in fairness he was quite an attractive fellow!  The atmosphere at Aintree is always unlike anywhere else and there are loads of personalities to hand - last year Cilla Black and Bonnie Tyler were in the paddock.

Back to the horses, David has entered Grands Crus for the Liverpool Hurdle on Thursday and a potential rematch with Big Buck's but he is going to need plenty of rain between now and then to take his chance.  Gold Cup winner Long Run has also been entered for a rematch with Denman in the Totesport Bowl, so Thursday looks like being an excellent day's racing, Friday will be a great day regardless of the racing(!), while Saturday hosts the greatest spectacle on turf.

Finally, I have a mate who is addicted to brake fluid...he says he can stop at any time though!  Boom boom...
