I see that flat jockey Ted Durcan is jocked up at Beverley next Wednesday.  Nothing odd in that I hear you say and normally I would agree...however, he is currently booked to ride in a ladies race!  I bet Ted has taken some stick about that in the changing rooms (unless of course he has walked into the wrong changing room!) - someone somewhere has obviously made a bit of a boob!

Talking of jockeys courting controversy, I think that Belgian born jockey Christophe Soumillon has been taking the mickey out of the French Stewards.  He dropped his whip en route to victory at Clairefontaine on Tuesday and improvised (Paul Leach style aboard Baron Blakeney) by using his hand.  Afterwards Soumillon tongue in cheek said, "I hope I am not going to be punished for abusive use of the hand"!

A P McCoy passed the half century mark for the season last night at Worcester.  The perennial champion jockey rode a treble and then suggested to the assembled hacks that it is his target to reach 200 winners again this season - he rode 218 to victory last season, so there is no reason why he shouldn't do so again.  I feel sorry for all the other jockeys that have to ride against him...the bads news for those guys is that there is no sign of him slowing up just yet!

I thought that Godolphin trainer Saeed Bin Suroor introduced a useful looking prospect at Kempton on Tuesday evening.  Mahkama won in good fashion under lady jockey(!) Ted Durcan and should be more than capable of following-up in better company.

I am told that John Gosden's Royal Ascot winner Nathaniel worked very well on the Limekiln gallops at Newmarket yesterday.  His form is rock solid with his second in the Chester Vase being franked by winner Treasure Beach finishing second in the Derby before going one better in the Irish equivalent.  He will run next in a Group One in France - it's just a shame that he won't be running in this country.
