We saw a vintage ride from Kieren Fallon aboard Fulgar yesterday afternoon at Newmarket.  Why do these top jockeys always ride out of their skins against one that I have backed?!  You guessed it, I was on heavily backed favourite Mijhaar who looked all over the winner approaching the final furlong...I also managed to get 7/2 about the 13/8 shot.  A great Fallon ride, but why against me?!

What about Godolphin racing manager Simon Chrisford?  He told the television that he just wanted Bridgefield to run a race on the July course at Newmarket yesterday afternoon...well Bridgefield absolutely bolted up under a fine ride from Mickael Barzalona.  It just shows you that racing managers do not know everything!

I like Martin Dwyer's quote in the Racing Post "they are like traffic wardens hanging around the car park and if you are a minute late they clamp you!" - he is of course referring to the stewards.  When I have been before the stewards it is like going before the headmaster - I recall having to go before them at Windsor many years ago. In the stewards room there is a small piece of carpet that all people being interviewed should stand on - Rod Simpson told me to step on and off the carpet as it would really annoy them.  Why I was taking advice from Rodders I will never know, but in fairness he was right! The stewards told me to stand still and keep on the carpet - I'm sure there must be some pun in there somewhere.

It sounds like there was a horrific incident in Newmarket yesterday when two year old filly Jessica Ennis was involved in a collision with a car.  Fortunately nobody was injured although the horse is unlikely to race again.  It is a shame for the horse's part-owner, world heptathlete champion Jessica Ennis - if the horse shared any of her looks or ability she would have been top class!
