I don't know if anybody saw yesterday's racing at Newmarket but it was quite remarkable that all six of jockey Jim Crowley's intended mounts were declared non-runners.  There were plenty of non-runners throughout the day at both Newmarket and Brighton but it is quite unlucky to be expecting a full book of rides and end up with none!  Racing was quite hid quite hard yesterday, with several fields depleted as there were 73 non runners across the six meetings, mostly due to the rain affected ground.  Brighton was worst affected with 23 withdrawals.  Jim Crowley's six non-runners made up hald of all the non-runners at Newmarket so that is bad luck!

He will be hoping for better fortune today as he travels to Goodwood for four intended mounts where the jockey thinks he has a couple of good chances on the Ralph Beckett trained runners.  He is reported in the Racing Post to have spent his Friday afternoon doing household chores and taking his dughter to the driving range!  I hope he has better luck this afternoon in the saddle.  The weather has being playing his part at Pond House to like it as across the rest of the country.  We have had 21mm of rain in the last 48 hours but thankfully it is mucd drier this morning.  I have been out with my camera once again capturing a couple of photos of the horses.

The only jump action takeing place today is up at Cartmel.  David does not send any runners up there but it is an amazing little track and a highly recommend a visit if you can get there.  In fact you can make a weekend of it as there is also racing there on Monday!  It is quite a sharp little track and the crowd is in the middle and the horses race around the outside but finish up the straight down the centre after the final circuit.  They always get bumper crowds and there is a great atmosphere and it is definitely worth a visit to the track.  Just remember to allow extra time if you are travelling there as if the roads are anything like they are in the westcountry at the moment your journey may take a very long time!  There is not any National Hunt racing on Sunday but there are a few meetings on Bank Holiday Monday. David has entries at both Huntingdon and Bangor so keep checking back here for news of our runners.
