A group of us have just returned from the north of France.  We were staying in Deauville and I have to say that it is a beautiful place, although you would probably have to win the lottery to afford to live there - I think that it is the most expensive place that I have ever visited in the world!  One thing that struck me was how clean the place was - the binmen would come around everyday...where I live, we're lucky if the binmen come once a fortnight!  I couldn't even afford to get drunk - beer was €9 a pint in one bar, while langoustines were €24 per kilo - on my return, I couldn't help but notice that my local Morrisons were knocking them out at £10 per kilo...I sound like I am doing one of those price check adverts.  By the way, at the local market I noticed that jumpers were €150 each...I rest my case!

Sportsmen, racehorses and football managers all have a sell by date - as a sportsman you always know when your time is up - I knew when I was playing ping pong, getting out while I was still towards the top of my profession.  However, it looks to me as though Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has run out of ideas following his side's 8-2 pounding by Manchester Utd.  Arsene has been a great manager for many years, but it is definitely time to go...you know you're in trouble when Sir Alex starts saying nice things about you!  The Arsenal defensive unit don't seem to know what is going on and they look like they have never played together before.  It just goes to show what good centre halves Tony Adams and Sol Campbell must have been.

Having said all that about Arsenal, I have to say that Nottingham Forest's defence looks even worse - quite possibly the worst that I have ever seen!  If I was managing a team to play Forest, I would just keep playing high balls into the penalty area - they just don't seem to have an answer to it.  More to the point, if I were the Forest manager, I don't think I would buy a house around the Nottingham area as I wouldn't be expecting to stay there very long!
