American Art received a typically cool and confident ride from Conor O'Farrell to win the selling hurdle at Huntingdon yesterday afternoon.  The six year old certainly seems to have found his form with a vengeance now he has been eased in grade - he looks to be a class above these rivals, although he may still be a few pounds too high to be competitive in handicaps.  The second, The Foxs Decree could be another to follow in similar grade next time.

What an incredible turnout at Cartmel yesterday afternoon.  If you are a regular reader of my column, you will recall that I often mention how well supported the meetings up there can be - well yesterday they had a bumper crowd of 16,500 in attendance, with the first turning up at 7am to set-up for breakfast!  The course seems to be right in the middle of the town and it is well worth a visit, although make sure that you leave your car a few miles away as it is virtually impossible to get out of the gridlock otherwise.

I see that William Hill are offering odds about A P McCoy to ride 300 winners this season - the champ is a 20/1 shot to achieve that milestone.  Hills must be short of a few readies and are trying to take a few quid in...personally I would be in no hurry to take that price.  A P's best total was 289 in the 2001/2 season when MCP was at his peak (he provided him with 189 of those winners) but there is no MCP about anymore and while I would love to see it happen I just don't think that it will.

Talking of skinny odds - I see that British ladies tennis player Laura Robson got through to the second round of the US Open when her opponent Ayumi Morita retired injured.  Some bookies reacted by cutting Laura from 1,000/1 to 750/1...I think they should have put her in as a 10,000/1 shot!  At least Dick Turpin wore a mask!
