Two Meetings

David has four runners at Newton Abbot this afternoon, Hugo Drax, Milor De La Borie, Royal Rationale and Starlife.  We also have one runner at Southwell this evening, Darcey Diva.  There are five meetings on today, two on the flat at Chester and Goodwood plus three jumps cards at Newton Abbot, Wincanton and Southwell.  Royal Rationale has been disappointing recently and runs off a mark of 105 this afternoon.  He has previously won off a mark of 128 so in theory he is thrown in on old form but his last win was in 2009!  In fairness he has not run many times during that period but it would be just nice to see him run a bit better this afternoon.  A similar comment would apply to Starlife, Milor De La Borie and Hugo Drax so we will just have to see how they get on  Darcey Diva was a good second first time out Wincanton but then was disappointing at Ludlow on her next run.  She has had a little break but does need to bounce back to form.

There was some great racing action at Chester yesterday and Investissement ran okay in the Chester Cup finishing 9^th of 17.  It looked like he did not quite stay out the marathon 2m 2 1/2f trip but he ran with promise and was can take much encouragement from that run.

I see that soon to be retired manager Sir Alex Ferguson let his players have a day out at Chester yesterday even though they lost to Chelsea on Sunday!  As I told you yesterday, when the bookies shortened the prices up they knew Sir Alex was going to retire.  I have had a few bets in the past on when managers are leaving their clubs and even had one of my betting accounts closed on this type of bet!

What about the story in the paper about the horse called Pudsey House yesterday!  He got loose in the stable yard and then found his way into Kelso and was eventually caught at the rugby club.  Amazingly everything was all okay and no harm done.  We had a loose horse at Uttoxeter once.  Martin Foster pinche3d somebody’s bike and eventually found the horse in a nearby village.  I wonder whatever did happen to that bike?!  Have a nice day.
