Dell' Arca rolls back the years with Newbury win
The stable enjoyed a good week with four winners to add to our tally and what better time to be hitting top form with Cheltenham’s November meeting taking place this weekend? It is a meeting that the Pond House team has traditionally done very well at and I am hoping to have plenty of runners across the course of the three day fixture.

A good week with winners on the flat and over the sticks has certainly helped no end with my recuperation after I was on the receiving end of a kicking (from one of the horses!). I am pleased to report that I am feeling much better now and whilst I still need to take things easy for a while longer, I have ventured down to the office and even watched a few lots on the gallops.

It was the turn of the boys last week, with the stable’s two winners Main Fact and Dell’ Arca partnered by apprentice Luke Catton and conditional jockey Fergus Gillard respectively. The successes were great for racing too – Main Fact (pictured above) has acquired something of a following since embarking on his winning spree, whilst Dell’ Arca, the winner of the Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham seven years ago next month remains an extremely popular and spritely veteran at the age of eleven.

The horses continue to run well overall, although last week we endured a frustrating run of near misses. Panic Attack, Lady Reset, Stubborn Logic, Elan de Balme, Martinhal and Nobel Joshua all reached the frame without quite managing to get their heads in front. Meanwhile, over in France Ramses de Teillee (pictured above) also ran with credit in the French Champion Hurdle on Saturday at Auteuil.

Although last week promised to be a busy one, we were thrown a bit of a ‘curve ball’ by the drying ground. Although winnerless, there were some decent performances nonetheless, not least from Leoncavallo who ran a very good race in the ultra-competitive Cesarewitch handicap on the flat at Newmarket on Saturday.

Last week was a busier one and following a slightly frustrating run of places, we were able to get among the winners when Bumpy Johnson produced a good performance to win on his debut for the stable at Fontwell on Friday. This week looks exciting with Chepstow hosting their first card of the jumps season, whilst we intend to be represented in the Cesarewitch at Newmarket on Saturday.

Although we only had three runners last week, I was delighted to be among the winners with Airton’s Uttoxeter success taking our tally for the new campaign to eight. Fortune certainly seemed to favour us on this occasion, although these things have a tendency of balancing themselves out and we have had an unlucky loser or two to put on the other side of the ledger.
