Mr Clarkson (left) runs at Warwick

Following the early abandonments of Exeter and Leicester, there are just three meetings taking place this afternoon with the action coming over the sticks at Warwick and on the all-weather at Lingfield and Kempton.  The ground at Warwick is going to be extremely testing with the official description unsurprisingly heavy.  David has one runner this afternoon as Mr Clarkson runs at Warwick.

Mr Clarkson reverts to hurdles from the larger obstacles as he contests the 3m2f handicap at Warwick at 3.40pm.  He has won from this mark before over timber and would have gone close to winning at Taunton on his penultimate start over fences but for coming down two out.  He has a chance on that basis, although the ground will probably be as testing as he has ever faced.  If he handles it okay, he could easily outrun his odds under regular jockey David Noonan.

Tomorrow is promising to be a busier day with half a dozen runners split between Wincanton and Ffos Las, that is weather permitting of course!

Manchester United were impressive in beating ten man (9 near the end!) Southampton last night, whilst Arsenal threw away the lead after having two players sent off as they were beaten 2-1 by Wolves.

There are five Premiership matches taking place tonight with Manchester City looking likely to build on their lead at the top of the table as they take on Burnley.  The most competitive match could be between the claret and blues though as Aston Villa and West Ham clash.  It should be a close game, although the Hammers struggled against Liverpool last week and the home team may just edge it.

Finally, we couldn’t finish today without acknowledging the passing of Captain Sir Tom Moore yesterday at the age of 100.  His incredible lifetime accomplishments should continue to inspire for generations to come and our thoughts are with his family.
