Today there is a bumper afternoon of jumps action (for a Sunday) with Newbury's rescheduled Betfair Hurdle meeting the headliner among three jumps cards.  David has two runners at Newbury; Dell' Arca in the 3m handicap hurdle and Night Edition in the big race.  Well done to everyone at Newbury and the BHA who have managed to save this prestigious meeting, let's hope they are rewarded with some exciting action. The other meetings come from Uttoxeter and Market Rasen.

Popular veteran Dell' Arca contests the 1.50pm race and he has been in good form this season, winning twice, including over course and distance.  He is higher in the weights now, but he did finish third in this race last term at a big price from this mark and it would be no surprise to see him go well again at fancy odds.  Fergus Gillard is in the saddle and claims a handy 5lbs off his back.

Night Edition, runner-up in the Boodles juvenile handicap hurdle from this mark at the Cheltenham Festival last season, contests the 2m Betfair Hurdle at 3.35pm.  It is a red-hot handicap in which you could give any number of the field a chance, but Night Edition is towards the bottom of the weights, should enjoy conditions and could run well at a big price under Tom Scudamore.

Earlier on the card it will be interesting to see how Cheltenham Gold Cup hopeful Champ gets on on his seasonal reappearance in the Game Spirit Chase.  The drop to two miles is certainly an interesting move, especially as he needed every yard of the 3m½f trip to prevail in the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival last season.  He made one or two errors that day and with the quicker pace, it could be the same story again.  Win, lose or draw, it will be a fascinating watch.

Naomi Osaka landed a fourth Grand Slam title yesterday when readily beating Jennifer Brady in straight sets in the ladies' Australian Open final in Melbourne.  Today it is the turn of the men with Novak Djokovic looking to win a ninth Australian title against Daniil Medvedev, who is still looking for a first Grand Slam title.

There are four Premiership football matches taking place this afternoon with the early game, West Ham versus Tottenham Hotspur possibly the closest to call.  The Hammers are flying high in the table in fifth place at present, although their manager, David Moyes has an awful record against Jose Mourinho's sides.
