The stable enjoyed a good weekend with a couple of winners on Saturday at Newbury and Wincanton.  Remastered was excellent in landing the Grade 2 Reynoldstown Chase at Ascot to stretch his unbeaten run over fences to three.  Jumping boldly, he was given a great front running ride by Tom Scudamore and with further good leaps in the straight he had more than enough in hand to see off the favourite on the run-in.  He has improved in leaps and bounds since the switch to obstacles and there could be more to come to yet.

Over at Wincanton, First Lord de Cuet (pictured above) ran out a comfortable winner of the 2m5½f handicap hurdle under Jack Tudor.  He has been consistent this season, finishing in the frame on all five of his previous starts, so this success was well deserved.  This was a career best by some way so he is sure to be taking a hike in the weights for this.  Even so, he is only relatively lightly raced and is clearly on the upgrade.

Meanwhile, Ramses de Teillee and Main Fact were both far from disgraced, finishing fourth in their respective Graded contests.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Carlisle and Southwell and an all-weather flat fixture from Wolverhampton.  Following the abandonment of Lingfield, David will not have any runners today, although we will be back at our local track, Taunton tomorrow.

There is one Premiership football match on tonight as Brighton host Crystal Palace.  With Zaha out, Palace have lost each of their five Premier League matches and that may well continue tonight.

There was one of the biggest upsets I can remember last night in the final of the Welsh Open snooker with world number 81 Jordan Brown beating Ronnie O'Sullivan 9-8 in a thrilling match.  Brown's success means that he is the lowest ranked player to win a ranking tournament since 1993.
