Following the abandonment of Bangor this afternoon, we are left with just two meetings with a jumps card from Warwick and an all-weather flat fixture from Lingfield.  David has one runner today; Poker Play who contests the 3m2f handicap hurdle at Warwick at 4.15pm.  He has been in good form of late, finishing second at Plumpton and ran a solid third at Chepstow last time.  Conditions should suit, although the more rain, the better his chances.  Fergus Gillard is in the saddle and is excellent value for his 5lbs claim and Poker Play looks to have each-way claims once again.

Today seems very much the calm before the storm with the Cheltenham Festival only two sleeps away.  Aside from our runner today, we will be back at our local track Taunton with runners tomorrow to keep us all occupied.

It was a great pity that we were unable to get to Sandown yesterday after our lorry was stuck in the ensuing traffic jam caused by a crash on the M5.  Consequently all three of our intended runners had to be withdrawn but the main thing is that the horses were all okay and I don't believe that anyone was seriously hurt in the accident, so there will be other days for everyone.

There are four Premiership football matches taking place this afternoon and perhaps the most interesting are the clashes between Arsenal and Spurs and Manchester United and West Ham.  Any London derby is interesting, but so too is the United game - West Ham have a real chance to push for a place in Europe (when was the last time you could say that) and a result today would go a good way to that, especially with a game in hand.
