There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Market Rasen, flat fixtures from Lingfield and Sandown and all-weather flat meetings from Wolverhampton and Chelmsford City.  David has one runner today as Awesomedude has his first start for the Pond House team and makes his hurdling debut in the 2m½f novices' hurdle at Market Rasen at 1.10pm.  A progressive sort on the flat last season, he won his last five races from 1m2f to 1m4f, the last of those from a rating of 82.  He lacks the experience of his rivals, but he has schooled well at home, has a good attitude and conditions should suit him well.  There are some useful types in opposition but he looks to have a decent chance under Tom Scudamore.

David was up at the sales at Doncaster yesterday afternoon and he purchased the handsome five year old gelding Kingofthewest (pictured above).  He is a super-looking chap who already has some decent form in the book, having finished runner-up in an Irish point-to-point on his only start to date.  He has a great pedigree, already proven that he can jump and stay and looks a smashing prospect for the jumps.  Do get in touch if you would be interested in owning him.  We are always looking to strengthen our squad and David will be at the sales again today searching for more potential stars.

The best racing today comes from Sandown where the Listed Heron Stakes is the feature race at 6.55pm.  The favourite is Highland Avenue, who produced a good performance to land the Fielden at Newmarket last time.  With the fourth winning the Chester Vase subsequently, the form looks strong and he is a worthy favourite for Godolphin despite having to carry a 3lbs penalty.

Liverpool beat Burnley with the minimum of fuss 3-0 last night to move into fourth place in the Premiership, jumping Leicester City on goal difference.  The fourth and final position in the Champions' League will be decided with the final games of the Premier League season on Sunday.  Leicester will be desperate to get a result against Spurs, whilst Liverpool look to have a somewhat easier task as they face Crystal Palace.

I see that the war of words between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is getting spicy following news that their much anticipated bout may not take place owing to contractual obligations that Fury has to fight Deonte Wilder.  Of course, it is nothing more than hype to get people interested, although when the match will take place is now unclear with Joshua's promoters giving Fury's opposite number until the end of the week to clear up the Wilder business.
