There is no jump racing action in the UK today but there are four flat meetings at Leicester, Lingfield, Windsor and Pontefract and in Ireland there is flat racing at Gowran Park and jumping action at Listowel.  There are no runners from Pond House today but we do have two runners at Southwell tomorrow, Awesomedude and To Fly Free so check back here for more news in the morning.

Although the Epsom Derby did not go to plan for Aidan O'Brien and the Ballydoyle team they finished the weekend with victory the Qatar Prix Du Jockey Club, their first win the race on their 40th runner.  St Mark's Basilica won the French Derby in emphatic fashion under French jockey Ioritz Mendizabal.  The three year old Siyouni colt has now won three Group 1 races and was cut to 9/1 from 16s for the Arc in October.  This was back to back wins for the jockey in the race as he won it aboard Mishriff for John Gosden last year.

Yesterday was the final point to point meeting in the Devon and Cornwall area at Bratton Down and I went along to watch.  Our very own Martin McIntyre had a winner which was good and I am a little biased but my brother Darren Edwards was crowned leading rider for the area so well done to him!  Leading lady rider was Chloe Emsley while novice champions we Conor Houlihan (brother to jockeys Sean and Niall) and Charlotte Summersby who works for Paul Nicholls.  The final point to point of this season is at Kingston Blount next weekend.

Alongside watching racing I enjoy following the golf and it was unfortunate for John Rahm who was leading the field in Ohio but had to withdraw before the final round after receiving news of a positive Covid test.  American Patrick Cantlay went on the win after a playoff which saw him seal victory on the first extra hole over Colin Morikawa.  The US Open is now just than two weeks away.

What do sad owls sing in a rainstorm?  Too wet to woo!  Have a nice day!
