         Ranco runs at Worcester Today

After a hectic week in the racing world with the hype of Royal Ascot, there is time to draw breath today with just the one flat meeting but there are two jumps meetings at Hexham and Worcester to keep us entertained.  The stable has two runners at Worcester today, Veiled Secret and Ranco and both are ridden by Fergus Gillard who is back in action for the first time since his nasty fall at Fontwell about 10 days ago.  He had his stitches removed from the side of his head on Thursday and although he says his modelling career is probably over he is fit and raring to get back on the racecourse!  Veiled Secret runs in the first division of the 2m4f handicap hurdle at 2.35pm.  He is making his stable debut having previously been in the care of Matt Sheppard.  He is a seven year old who has won on the flat and won one race over hurdles.  He was disappointing when last seen on the track but has settled in well since arriving at Pond House and goes well at home.  Today is a bit of a fact finding mission to learn more about him but Fergus has schooled him and it will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Ranco is our second runner of the day in the final race on the card, a novices handicap hurdle over 2 miles at 5.05pm.  After a finishing a good fourth at the track on his penultimate start he was a little disappointing at Newton Abbot last time.  The race did not really suit that day however and he was a never nearer sixth after never really being able to land a blow.  Hopefully a return to this track will suit and with Fergus claiming a handy three pounds and fingers crossed he can bounce back and show us his true form and not bee too far away.

In the Euro 2020 tournament today we have the final two group games for Group A today.  Both matches are now played at the same time, kicking off at 5pm.  Wales travel to Rome to play Italy while Switzerland face Turkey.  Wales will probably qualify even if they lose but a point will guarantee second spot in the group.  If they are to win they will top the group and are likely to avoid Belgium in the next round.  Come on Wales!

There was once a guy named Jake
Who had very bad stomach ache;
He sat in his chair
Saying, "Tis only fair,
For I ate the entire chocolate cake!"

Have a nice day.
