There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Newton Abbot and Stratford as well as a flat fixture from Redcar.  David has two runners today with Koi Dodville and Oneonechop contesting the juvenile hurdle at Newton Abbot at 2.05pm.  Koi Dodville (pictured above) has taken well to hurdling since arriving from France, winning his first two starts at Hexham and Aintree before finishing third under a double penalty over course and distance last time.  His jumping wasn't as fluent as it can be and he is slightly better off at the weights with those that finished ahead of him.  With a more fluent round, there is no reason why he can't be thereabouts again under Tom Scudamore.  Oneonechop was a multiple winner on the flat in France and jumped really well on his hurdling debut before fading in the closing stages to finish fourth.  He has stamina to prove, but if he does get the trip he could prove dangerous under Fergus Gillard who takes a handy 3lbs off his back.

The best of the other action comes in Ireland this afternoon where the Curragh has two Group 2 races on the card and Order Of Australia looks a cut above his rivals in the 7f Minstrel Stakes at 2.10pm.

There is plenty of sporting action to enjoy this afternoon and whilst I may give the final round of the British Open golf a swerve, I will certainly be keeping an eye on the British Grand Prix from Silverstone, especially as Channel 4 is hosting full live coverage.  A scorcher outside?  I will be keeping cool inside with a nice refreshing beer!

I saw Ussain Bolt running around the track shouting, "Why did the chicken cross the road?"  Apparently it is a running joke

When you did, which part of the body dies last?  The pupils...they dilate!
