There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with the action all coming on the level from Ffos Las and Nottingham on the turf and Wolverhampton and Chelmsford City on the all-weather.  If you are a fan of the jumps, you are out of luck with the only jumps card coming from Ballinrobe in Ireland.  Despite the fact it is just an ordinary midweek meeting, it is very well subscribed with 108 runners on their eight race card with five of those races having reserves ready to replace any potential non-runners.

The best race of the day over here comes from Chelmsford where there is a 6f sprint handicap at 7.05pm.  Despite having a few disappointing efforts to bounce back from, Aljady is falling to an attractive mark and has a 5lbs pull with likely favourite May Sonic on course and distance form from April so could prove a spot of value under Sean Levey.

There are no runners from the stable today, although we have at Sandown and Worcester on Thursday for which we declare this morning by 10am.

Following Panorama's attempt to besmirch the racing industry last night now would seem to be a good time to focus on the positives of the sport.  At Pond House we are very proud of our record of rehoming horses at the end of their racing careers, whether they were superstars or lesser lights.  We only heard yesterday about former resident, Flou Artsistique (pictured below) who has gone on to be a good all-rounder for his new owners.  Now a six year old, he was entered his first dressage on grass at the weekend and came away with two rosettes for his doting handler.  Fort Summer (pictured above), another to have recently retired was also doing well at the weekend, going clear and finishing runner-up in his first show.  We have a page on the website dedicated to former Pond House horses if you would like to see more.

A millionaire was driving along in his stretch limo when he saw a humble man eating grass by the side of the road.  Ordering his driver to stop, he wound down his window and called to the man: "Why are you eating grass?"
"Because sir, we don't have the money for real food."
"Come with me then," said the millionaire.
"But sir, I have a wife, two sisters and six children," said the man.
"That's fine, bring them all along."
The man and his family all climbed into the limo.  "Sir, you are too kind.  How can I ever thank you for taking us all with you and offering us a new home?"
"No, you misunderstand," said the millionaire.  "The grass at my house is four feet high and no lawnmower will cut it!"
