Day two of our summer sabbatical and there are five flat meetings taking place today with the action coming from Catterick, Ffos Las and Nottingham and from Chelmsford City and Lingfield on the all-weather.  It isn't the most inspiring of days racing with the highlight being the 0-95 sprint handicap at Chelmsford at 4.18pm.  Nigel Nott is a course and distance winner and is back on the same mark today so looks a spot of each-way value against the favourites.

There are no runners from the Pond House team today, although we do have a couple of entries on the level this weekend with Koi Dodville engaged at Lingfield on Saturday and Lady Reset at Haydock on Sunday.

It has been another good start to the day for the British team at the Olympics with two gold and a silver medal in the sailing, whilst there was another medal in the pool with Jack Laugher picking up a bronze.

In football news, the divide between England skipper Harry Kane and Tottenham Hotspur seems to be widening with the striker not turning up for training yesterday, increasing speculation that he will be on the move with Manchester City openly pursuing his services.

Two men were building a wooden shed.  One man picked up a nail, hammered it in, picked another nail and threw it away.  After that, he picked up a nail, hammered it in, picked up another nail and threw it away.  After repeating this process for a while, his workmate finally came over and asked him why he was throwing half of the nails away.
"It's obvious," he said.  "Those ones were pointed at the wrong end."
"How could you be so stupid?" said his friend.  "They were for the other side of the shed!"
